Aileen Chang, MD

Aileen Chang, MD, is an Associate Professor of Dermatology at the University of California, San Francisco. She is the Director of Dermatology Research at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital (ZSFG) and co-Director of the Social Determinants of Health Curriculum for UCSF Dermatology. She was the Founding Director of the ZSFG Dermatology Consult Service, 2017-2024.

Dr. Chang’s research is rooted in improving health outcomes in dermatology for all populations locally and globally. For over a decade, Dr. Chang led transnational, multidisciplinary projects related to lymphedema and wound care management, telemedicine-enabled learning platforms, and developing dermatology capacity in low-and-middle-income countries. Dr. Chang’s current research broadly focuses on the impact of social and structural factors on the development, clinical presentation, and treatment of skin conditions using quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods approaches.
